100 Happy Days – Part II

 

Day 5 – Wednesday 25th November 2015

  Another tough day in my van *beep beep* and I came home to a beautiful wedding invitation and a save the date, both for next year! I’ve always loved weddings, but now mine is over, I think I’ll enjoy them even more. I don’t think people realise the stress and man hours that go into organising a wedding and I think especially for women, we will notice all of the little cute touches and finer details at forthcoming weddings.

Day 6 – Thursday 26th November 2015

  I didn’t want to particularly do much on this day as I knew what I was about to face in the next few days, when I say I would face, I really mean my poor liver – sorry pal. When I received this chat from an old friend, it really made me chuckle. Myself and Alice are the sorts of friends who can go months without speaking but when we see one another again, it’s like no time has passed.

Day 7 – Friday 27th November 2015

  I technically cheated on this day, I posted this in the early hours of Saturday as the evening, and the wine, got a bit too much for me! Laughter, food and drinkies with two of my favourite ladies on the whole entire earth is just what I needed after my week! My plan was to get a snap of all three of us, but for starters we have one camera shy little lady and two, we were too busy gossiping and boozing!

Day 8 – Saturday 28th November 2015

  Again, another late post, this actually got put up on Sunday as I spent the night entertaining; to be honest I am actually proud I even remembered to take a picture in my state, it’s probably why it’s so poor! I had the in-law’s over for dinner and lots and lots of wine, 5 bottles to be exact! Safe to say I did not want to move much the next day…

Day 9 – Sunday 29th November 2015

  …so we decided to go and watch The Hunger Games. I’m surprised it has taken us both so long to watch it as we normally go to the opening viewing at midnight but as it worked out Ben was working a night shift and I didn’t fancy trekking into Ipswich alone at 12am! I came out thinking what a great film it was but I am sure they changed quite a few scenes to that in the book, however it was a good few years ago that I read the series so I can’t remember all too well; good in some aspects though as I didn’t know what was coming next, except the ending of course! I think even the non-readers could’ve predicted that!

Day 10 – Monday 30th November 2015

  Due to our very inactive day previously, Ben and I decided to drive to one of the forests near us, it’s about 15 minutes away in the car, and we hit the ground running – literally! I wanted to try out my new cross country spikes and venture on a trail run, something of which I’ve always wanted to do, but again, without company I wasn’t sure it’d be all that fun. Let me tell you this….IT WAS GREAT FUN! We came back muddy, soaked and both buzzing from the adrenaline. I cannot wait to go again! During the late afternoon, I cooked my third roast of all time for my in-law’s again (they were obviously so impressed with my cooking on Saturday then just wanted more ;-)) and I smashed out a great pork roast, if I don’t say so myself 🙂

Day 11 – Tuesday 1st Decemeber 2015

  The countdown to Christmas begins…and what better way to celebrate a countdown than with chocolate, lots of it in my case! I know you might be thinking, wow two is a little steep Tay don’t you think? I actually have 5 *covers face*. I can try and explain myself, but is there any need? A girl need chocolate!!!! Anyway, I hope you’re all as excited for the festive season as I am – I’ve got my Christmas CD’s in my van, decorations around the office, all that’s left is to decorate The Crescent! I’ve tried to be proactive this year too, so I actually only have a few gifts left to purchase this year, so I’m feeling smug!

I know this is only the start but I am really enjoying taking snaps of my favourite parts of the day. Not only will they be memories to look back on but it’s a way to keep me focused. Don’t get me wrong, I have already had the thought pop into my mind of, ‘can I not just use a photo from the other day?’ I had two absolutely shocking finishes last week, both of which meant I didn’t get home any time before 7:30pm, which I know is normal for most of you, but when I leave my house at 6:20am, the office at 4:30pm and my commute should only be an hour or so….you can probably sympathise with my stress levels! All I wanted was some chocolate, but I battled through and went out of my way to find two reasons to be happy on each of those days.

I guess that’s what this challenge is all about, finding a little bit of happiness even on the darkest of days. I’m slowly learning that my life isn’t as bad as my mind sometimes makes it feel.

Bucket List Adventures Rises From The Deadru

Woah…a post!!?? Say whaaaat?

This blog hasn’t been touched in months because…I GOT MARRIED! On Saturday 20th June this year I married my best friends and now, gorgeous husband. It was the greatest day of my life and I hope that my health allows me to keep my memories of this day until I pass. It was a beautiful day, with lots of tears, smiles and fizzy beverages (of course 😉 ).

I had the most magical of days, I honestly felt like a princess! Every time I think about the day I get butterflies. I literally wouldn’t change a thing (except some of the bridesmaids….that is for another story). I can honestly say I love this boy with all of my heart and I hope to be drinking Merlot with him in our back garden at 75, bitching about the people this world is ruined by and adoring the beautiful nature that the world has given us.

Anyway, soppiness over. Lets get to my other updates.
THE BUCKET LIST UPDATE

1) I saw Death Cab for Cutie two weeks before the wedding – 
honestly, it felt amazing to be there, to be among people who enjoy the same music and same ambience as you do when listening to them. There is something in the music that makes the listeners just captivated and calm. I guess I’ve been to too many Blink 182 gigs with moshing teenagers and this was just a lovely eye opener that people can enjoy music the adult way.

2) I stayed in an extravagant hotel – for our ‘mini moon’, Ben and I jetted off to Venice. Those of you who don’t know about Venice, it’s a tiny, what I would call Island, off of Italy. Of course it is still bursting with all of Italy’s iconic plus points; great food, gorgeous specimens, relaxed way of life and beautiful, beautiful drink but is also home to some insane architecture. I had huge high hopes for Venice and I wasn’t let down. I guess we could’ve gone for a shorter trip, the ‘island’ was a lot smaller than I’d hoped but as we were there to finally chill out, it was perfect for long evening strolls, extended dinners with a little too much prosecco and way too much pizza. I picked a hotel that had a hot-tub on the roof and on arrival they gave us cake and the fizzy good stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it but Ben and I are happy to slum it in hostels and cheap hotels for city breaks, but this was on another level. I’m glad we blew our budget for this trip.

3) Whilst in Venice, we took a Gondala ride – much to mine and my tight arse husband’s back pocket, we took an 80 Euro Gondala ride. We are both pretty good with our money in general but I think were both reluctant to get on one. It was a good one to cross off the list, but being taken down the stinky back alleys of Venice wasn’t a great way to spend 80 euros in 30 minutes! I guess I’m glad I’ve done it, but a boat tour we took for much less money, which lasted around 2-3 hours, around all of Venice was much better value for money and also allowed you to see the glorious, imposing buildings that ancient Venice had to offer. Honestly, I wouldn’t do it again but I guess it was on my bucket list and ‘when in Rome’ n all that!

So it’s not a huge life update, I’ve done other stuff in between. Like eat 1000x more calories than I should, went on my pal’s crazy hen do to Ibiza, done a load more work on the house, reinvented my attitude towards my degree, which was slowly diminishing in the last few months of 2014. I feel like I’m back, with the time and the positive attitude that I need for this blog. I have a lot of ideas but I’m not sure quite just yet what to do with them. Youtube, WordPress or just a little notebook in my handbag, but somewhere I’ll be able to find a release for my thoughts.

Running Goals and Races

For many of my readers this post will be pretty boring as it includes what it says on the tin – running. So please feel free to stop reading now. Those of you with an interest in fitness, running and my life in general, please feel free to keep enjoying my awful English 🙂

This post is not only for me to mentally organise my years’ races and events but also to write down some of my goals on the internet so I have a way of tracking and following them. Aside from when the summer Athletics leagues open and consequently my weekends being consumed with The Power of 10 and texting my running bud Kayleigh a lot, I have actually signed myself up to what I’m hoping are going to be some successful events.

[1] Silverstone Half Marathon
15.03.15
This is going to be my first half of 2015 and my chance to try and beat my time from last year. I would be lying if I’d be gutted if I don’t. I was recovering from injury last year and I was just trying to ‘get round’. This time I want to at least beat that time!

[2] Reading Half Marathon
22.03.15
I stupidly signed up to this in excitement of my running bug without realising it was a week after Silverstone, however, I should be fit enough to be able to at least run it. I need to give my body a shock into realising I will be running these distances often if I have any chance of completing the below..

[3] 100 Miles
April 2015
This is something I’ve seen on many blogs that I follow; the challenge is to run 100 miles in a month. Now I could try and attempt that before in my weeks of training, however if I don’t, I’m giving myself April – June to do this, any later than that I will just die in the heat.

[4] Will of Iron
May 2015
As you can see, this is basically the challenge which I attempt last year to complete Iron Man distances over a week. You can pick any 7 consecutive days in May but you cannot stop/ take a day out and you must complete and track all of your miles. I think I’ll enjoy this one as I loved it last time I attempted it.

[5] Trail Blazer

This falls on the weekend of Ben’s stag do – perfect timing for me to keep my mind off of him being led astray haha! I’m looking forward to it because it’s a different event, however it’ll be in the peak of the warm season so hopefully my body will allow me to run 10k!

[6] Race for Life

Just another big event I wanted to sign up to really as the atmosphere at these are incredible. I also want to see if I can beat my time 3 years on, although we did have the advantage of the event being moved due to extremely high temperatures that year! If I don’t, I won’t beat myself up about it. This is normally a race I can rope my pals into doing with me as it’s a big charity event.

[7] Royal Parks Half (TBC)

This one I’ve wanted to run for about 2 years now but it’s so popular I can never get a place! I’m in the ballot, so fingers crossed for me everyone 🙂

[8] New York Marathon (TBC)

This one was set on a whim/peer pressure from my brother. Of course I know I mentally should be able to run a marathon but physically I am nowhere near. I am seeing a lot of my friends at my club currently training for their marathons this Spring and I am a little envious but also glad I only have 3-4 runs a week and not 5, including distances such as 20 miles – vom. I was attracted to this one as a) it’s a pretty famous one b) it’ll be in cold temperatures where my body will excel and c) I could get a potential cheeky holiday out of it! However, again, I know how hard this is to get into!

There are other races I’m currently eyeing up, but I’m waiting to see how my running goes post-skiing and after my two March halves!

Other Goals
– Cross training – this, along with the following two ‘goals’ are more of an attempt to try and incorporate them into my training schedule. Anywhere will tell you that all three of these activities will aid recovery and fitness!
– Yoga
– Abs Strengthening

Times
As I have learnt in the past 3-4 months especially, it is great to have goals but they shouldn’t have time restraints on them if it’s me setting them! I feel cornered and boxed in when I feel I have a deadline, whereas when I am able to move at my own pace I normally beat the target anyways. So I have the following hopes to improve my times but I am putting no pressure on myself to achieve them.

5k

Current PB: 28.40 (treadmill)

10k 
55mins and then 52 mins
Current PB: 58 mins (Race for Life 2012)

6 miles
55 mins and then 50 mins
Current PB: 57 mins (training)

115 mins and then 110 mins
Current PB: 119mins (Silverstone Half Marathon 2014)

Obviously, if I manage to smash any of these, I’ll add a little update to my blog, but I’m not going to focus too much on them as they’re hopefully going to be gradual milestones that’ll happen as I get fitter and fitter.

My only issue I have floating around with all of my training and running at the moment is that the affiliation process starts soon. As you know I moved county and so it would make logistical sense to change my club but I am a very loyal person and I’d hate to let my team down. My current club aren’t the strongest in the league, whereas my potential new club are coming 1st / 2nd in the league – also meaning I’d be competing against my old team mates. You can have a ‘1st’ and ‘2nd’ club, but I’m pretty sure my potential new club wouldn’t take kindly to coming in second place. Any suggestions anyone? Moving would be a great way to make new friends in the area but would also mean potentially losing the one’s at my old club. HELP.

My January Favourites – 2015

I know it’s a little late, but personally I don’t know how you can create a favourites until the month is up! Especially as I discovered one of my favourites right toward the end of this month. So without any babel, here are the things I’ve been loving during the first month of 2015. DSC01594DSC01591 Excuse the grumpy face and zebra crossing on my head – I wasn’t too impressed with the state of our room and also the shocking light I’m subject to! My first favourite is this Karrimor running top. At only £4.99, this was a bargain. This is everything I want and love in a running top, a long body, tight but not enough to show rolls, breathable and bright. It ticks all of these boxes. Some tops I buy ride up when I run which is my biggest hate about fitness tops, but this one doesn’t! DSC01597 DSC01598 Keeping in the theme of fitness, I have loved these ear phones this month. I actually got them for my birthday last year but when I first tried to put them in my ears I didn’t like how massive they were so refused to wear them again. Big error. I watched a tutorial how to use them properly and they’ve been a dream since. I always have the problem with my earphones falling out of my ears, smacking my piercings and getting damaged by sweat but these are on another level. For any fitness fans – these are a must. DSC01590 DSC01589 A present from my Mumma and Pappa at Christmas, these hair curlers are unusual to say the least. I had seen hair tutorial from famous Youtuber’s testing these out and I’d always been cautious as a) my curls never stay in as I have fine thin hair, b) they look pretty lethal and c) they’re an expensive investment. So when I opened these at Christmas I was so excited to try them out! I can confirm they are incredible. My curls stayed in not only the whole date night, but after a run the following day too with minimal hair spray. My curls when I used to use my GHD’s would stay in for all of an hour and turn into scraggly waves but these are a god send. DSC01587 This book. I am loving. End of. DSC01601 I am addicted to these bars. They’re gluten, wheat and dairy free. I was sceptical at first as they look like dog treats to the eye, but they’re filling, tasty and good for you. I recommend these to anyone who wants to remove snacking from their diet as these are good snacks 🙂 They have a huge variety of flavours, however they are quite pricey! DSC01586 DSC01585 This head and shoulders shampoo I have been using for a few months now. I have really noticed to difference in the strength of my hair; it normally falls out at any given chance and is always in pretty bad condition but considering it’s winter, I’m outside a lot and I’ve not been taking care of my hair, this shampoo has saved my hair. It was actually my fiancé’s but I stole it when my usual shampoo run out. I really would recommend this when you want a quick hair salvage. The Dr. Organic Shampoo and Conditioner I only bought a week or so ago. My friend recommended them as they’re meant to be much better for the hair as they contain little chemicals and are a lot more natural than brands such as Herbal Essences. On my first use, I used the Shampoo twice as I didn’t feel my hair was clean enough and also the colour and smell put me off. However, after a few uses my hair looks more shiney and ‘salonesque’ – if that’s even a word? I probably should have kept this for a February favourite as these may not grow on me too much but at first use, they’re a good switch from my regular shampoo and conditioners. DSC01599 I’ve wanted this box set for ages as I don’t have Sky so I can never watch re-runs and when I was younger and at home I’d always feel super awkward watching it infront of my rents! I received this for Christmas and as I’ve now been ill twice since, this has been a life saver. I have also worked out I can watch this in German and many other languages, which basically counts as revision, right? I spent 12 hours watching back to back episodes in German and my mind felt fried but I couldn’t turn it off – problems! It doesn’t advertise that it has not only subtitles but audio options in different languages so if anyone wants some easy watching in different languages, please buy! So these have been a random collection of things I’ve been loving in January. There hasn’t been much else I’m afraid as most of my January has been filled with running, eating and being ill! Let me know if you guys have tried any of the items mentioned above or any favourites you had in January which you’ll think I’ll like. XX

January Haul – (mainly fitness)

I have been fortunate enough to have had a little bit of spare money throughout January, which is the exact opposite of how my January’s normally go – not getting paid for around 6 weeks and scrounging off of my other half in the remaining days before pay day and checking my account at midnight to make sure my company have actually paid me! January 2015 was actually a little kinder on me.

After my amazingly great start to 2015 (cough) I thought I deserved a few treats so splashed out on the following:

These are my new babies! When I first competed for my club back in June last year, everyone had a pair of spikes so I was incredibly jealous, but being a novice you don’t know if a) you’re going to enjoy this whole speed milarky and b) whether they’d be a wasted investment as they’re quite pricey. So after a lot of uhming and ahhing I decided to treat myself to these beauts. I’m not normally a fan of girly colours but there’s not as much choice in this area of running shoes. I haven’t had a chance to test them out but I’m expecting to put them to the test on Thursday.

Ah god. What can I say about these bad boys? I was in a phase in January where I needed to buy anything and everything running related to give me a boost to get back into and ‘own’ running again. I was sick of getting annoyed at my regular running shoes, which when I originally bought they made me buy a size larger than my normal shoe! After getting my gait checked (I’m now a neutral gait woohoo), I realised I had loads more shoes to choose from and come across these bad boys. The shop assistant said the size is always down to preference and whoever sold me my 6’s clearly had no 5’s left in their more expensive shoes – what a mug that made me feel. So I opted for these in a comfy 5.5’s and I can only describe them as a dream to wear.

I also decided a Yoga mat would be a good investment for our home as stretching is super important with running and with my stress levels raging at the moment, I could probably do with the ‘chilling’ aspect that comes with Yoga.

Soooo I may have gone a little crazy in Sports Direct. How can I not? The prices were an absolute steal in the January sales. I’ve tested out all of the clothing above, except for the 2nd top on the bottom row as it’s not been warm enough to wear alone yet. My favourite is definitely the Karrimor pink item on the right for the gym ( it has small holes in so I don’t get too hot) and also the bottom right long sleeved Nike top, it has the hand inserts which really help to warm my hands with long distance as taking gloves, even in the snowy weather we’ve been having, is a big no no!

Onto something a little less running related and more interlinked with my Bucket List – I’m going to see DEATH CAB BABBBBBBY! Words cannot explain how excited I am for this! I have waited to see them live for years as most American artists shy away from touring the UK…and if they do, their shortage of gigs sell out fast! We bought these tickets, as you can see at 6 minutes past 9 and 8 minutes later they were all gone. Ahhh I am so happy I’m going. This year is officially going to be amazing 🙂

I also purchased this hoodie…however it may look mint green to you but when it arrived, I realised it was actually more green than a light mint as I think the picture shows. I’m actually in the process of sending this back for the coral version – something a little more girly and not usually what I’d opt for!

The only other bits I really bought in January were race places, event sign-up’s and ….. the entry to the New York marathon ballot! I know my chances of a place are slim, but I secretly really really want it. I think mentally I am now ready for it.

To end this, I’ll also tell you I splashed out and got my hair highlighted, not something I often allow myself to spend money on in the fear of having my hair look like a zebra crossing…there’s a reason for that…because it’s happened again! With 20 weeks to go until the wedding, I’m lucky this didn’t happen later on, but I’m still pretty annoyed as I look like a toddler has put yellow strips of Play-Doh through my hair.

My Crazy January

Spoiler alert: it hasn’t been that crazy but you wouldn’t actually read on if I’d have said my mental break down month right?

So I’ve had a strange January if anything, it’s been full of spunking money on things that I definitely don’t need, deferring my French uni module and getting back into running. Most of my friends knew that towards the end of last year I was running on overdrive, I had no time for anything, my hours were all planned from 6am- 10pm and I plain wasn’t enjoying life. Whenever I would drink I would get so drunk and either cry or to the point where I wouldn’t remember what had happened during the night – yeh, not so cool.

The reason for this was I had taken too much on; two uni modules, a now 3 hour commute to and from work everyday, 9 hours at work, the stress of wedding and hen do planning, getting back into running/trying to get in shape and all while still trying to have a social life. It just didn’t give me any free time to a) myself and b) with Ben. I think the saying is burning the candle at both ends? But I’m notorious for getting these sayings wrong!

So I decided I couldn’t do and have everything and something would have to give. After a chat down the pub when Ben’s rents came down to see us, I was basically told that I would never get anywhere near professional levels in my running career (which I knew anyway!) and therefore it should be uni I should focus on. After growing up with parents who were so chilled with what we did after we had done our qualifications, funnily enough I didn’t like being told that. So I followed my heart and chose to stick at running, my favourite outlet for stress, a sport in which, no I won’t excel at starting at the age of 21, but I love! On the rare occasion I did open my French books, I was always grumpy, stressed because my ‘tutor’ was the least helpful one I’d had so far and we got off on the wrong foot straight away and upset that I wasn’t excelling as fast as I have with German. So I deferred the year.

Many people would see that as admitting defeat but I’m someone who will often not see things through and it won’t bother me at all. I can return to it, of course, but for the time being there is no point attempting to put half of my heart into something when I could give it my all when I am at a better place in life. Over Christmas I decided to get a lot of wedding planning done so I’m no longer stressed about that and I’m actively making sure I go to as many social events as I can make so not to become a boring loner who lives in the countryside and see’s no-one but her fiancé!

So my weeks are now organised by long runs, my track training (I have finely returned to athletics), gym sessions, nights out and lots of stretching and healthy eating. My mind finely feels good again. I’ve had time to start reading again, in German of course 🙂 and even had time to slip in some bakes. Two of my closest friends are going through individual crises at the moment and I need to be there for them, especially as I experienced something similar in both of their situations.

In other, less morbid news….

– I could be crossing one of my Bucket List items off on the 8th June 😉 very exciting.

– I have entered the ballot for the New York Marathon – what I was thinking when I did this I don’t know, I wasn’t even pissed!

– I have signed up to the actual Will of Iron…which I did do whilst pissed and have just this second remembered – I think I need to quit wine.

– I think I have finally found my bridesmaid dresses!

– I may be booking another tattoo (my in-laws will love that – tehehe).

– I’ve got a skiing holiday on 7th Feb to get real excited about.

– I invested in some new running shoes……..2 pairs, oppsie. I will add photos of all of my new purchases in my next post as I want to do a haul/fitness update.

– I’m back to running 9-10 miles, adding on a mile each week.

– I’ve worked out that my new SITC box set I got for Christmas can be listened to in German! I have been glued to the telly today (I was off work due to some weird illness I have).

I’ve been having trouble with my eating at the moment due to my stress, more so with just my body confidence so I found this picture of me when I was at my skinniest and using it as my ‘thinspiration’. I know how wrong this is but there is noway I would go back to my old ways, this is just to prove to myself that I can get to a size I’d like to be when I put my mind to it.

I’ve got a couple of post ideas lined up – now that I actually have time to myself my content will hopefully get a little more interesting. As I’ve said before, I don’t really have a direction with this blog but I lot of the time it will be my rants, thoughts, my fitness and my adventures 🙂 So I hope you keep enjoying a nose into my life and thoughts.

Own 2015

Happy New Year to you all!

How did you all spend your New Year’s? Were you hanging out of your arse’s and eating bad food or were you straight down the gym and having a cleansing smoothie?

I have to say I was pretty much between the two! I ended up going to a house party which was pretty fun but I tried to make sure I didn’t get too drunk so I could attempt a 7 mile run – the effort was there guys, I got dressed around half 11 after slobbing in bed all morning, headed out but could only manage just under 2 miles, what a massive fail! I was sick (which I’m pretty sure may have been the alcohol) and I was running pretty quick to get home to the toilet – not good. But I did try and eat a little better yesterday and drunk lots of water.

My mission for today is to get that 7 miler done. I’ve signed up to two half’s this year, one of which I now can’t do as my fiancé booked us tickets to the Athletics in Birmingham that weekend and I didn’t have the heart to tell him I had Brighton Half Marathon on the Sunday – for those of you who don’t know, getting to Brighton from Birmingham for a half 8 start would mean leaving at stupid o’clock and my body wouldn’t have been fully prepped. Which is a massive shame as I’ve not run in the Brighton half, I’ll have to sign up for next year instead 🙂

As it is a New Year and every New Year I like to set myself goals rather than resolutions as most people are more likely to stick to a ‘goal’, I’d thought I’d share what I’m going to try and achieve this year.

[1] Complete 5-8 more entries on my Bucket List – this one for me is important. Why have a Bucket List and not bother actually living the experiences you’ve always wanted?

[2] Get back to Half Marathon fitness – I don’t really have a choice on this one, not that I wouldn’t want to do it but as I’ve signed up for two (now one) half marathon, I need to make sure I’m going to be fit enough to complete these without injury. I wanna own sport this year, not only for my body’s sake but for myself. That reminds me: I’ve got to contact my old coach and a potential new one for the Athletics season too!

[3] Start treating my teeth with respect – the more I look at other people’s teeth, especially the older generation, the more I’m frightened that I’ve let this lack of respect go on for too long! The amount of damage I must’ve already caused with the amount of sugar I consume is beyond repair. But what I can do is prevent anymore damage. Ben got an electric toothbrush from my parents for Christmas so I’ve bought a head for it so I can use it too, it comes with this cute little timer which lets you know when you’ve spent long enough on one section of your mouth – it’s surprising how long you actually should spend brushing your teeth! I’ve also got some teeth whitening strips that I wanna give a bash, hopefully sort out the colour a little too.

[4] Turn my diet into a useful one – as you know from all of my ranting and raving, I am always ill. This year I want to make sure I’m getting the most out of my food, with lots of nutrients and vitamins to help me and also getting the right fuel for my running an exercising. This one will be pretty hard as we still have the Christmas shite still in the cupboard but I’m pretty sure Ben may be able to take some into his work and it’ll be eaten up straight away!

[5] Spend more time with my future husband – this is a given. Since moving we’ve barely spent any time in our new home which is a massive shame. I love it here and we moved here for the beautiful countryside, the benefits of being able to cycle without less traffic, talk long walks in the sun and have generally less people around us (unsocial crones!) but we haven’t had the chance to make the most of it! He’s been staying at his parents a lot what with still working in Essex, but now his transfer is scheduled for next week, I’m so excited to have some us time back!

[6] Say no – I am a sucker for saying ‘yes’ to every plan that gets thrown my way. I don’t like letting people down and I have a real time management problem. I need to learn to say to people ‘no’ as I still have other work and Uni work commitments which are more important. In the past I have been guilty for knowing I have an essay due in the next week but still seeing different friends on both weekend days then moaning I haven’t seen Ben and consequently giving myself 48 hours to get the work done! I guess this one is also about learning to manage my time better!

[7] Read 30 books across 2015 – as you can see in one of my latest posts about my most re-read books, I have so many unread books that I want to read but never allow myself the time to do so. This year I’m setting myself the goal of getting through 30 books to make sure that I can actually read the books in my beautiful mini library. I love buying the books themselves and get excited to read them, but the day-to-day running of my life doesn’t normally allow to get much personal reading done. So this is my target for this year.

I’d love to know about your resolutions and goals! I did actually have 10 but I thought 10 would be greedy and quite hard to reach.

Although everyone has been saying ‘this is gonna be my year’, I sort of agree.

This year I will:
– be getting married
– going on a surprise hen do
– taking Ben to the place I grew up skiing
– honeymooning (twice) 😛
– wine tasting
– weekend awaying
– camping
– exploring our new area
and much much more! So I have lots to look forward to.

Our Wedding [Part One] : My Pre-Wed Goals

I thought I’d so a few posts in the run up to my wedding and because you can’t really talk about every aspect of your wedding in one long post – how snoresville – I have narrowed it down into sections…here’s part 1 for you all 🙂

When you’re younger and you dream about getting married, you picture yourself in the nicest dress looking absolutely stunning, not too young so it looks creepy and weird but not too old so you’re still youthful looking. Perhaps sporting a nice tan and a trim body from all that exercising we all have so much time to do.

The reality is somewhat different. I’ve not got the time to exercise, fake tanning isn’t cool in my opinion and neither are sunbeds (although I have to confess I had my time on them) and living in England isn’t the best for a ‘natural glow’. The perfect dress is also insanely hard to find, it took me forever and I was picking between 2 completely different dresses! However, I can confirm that I now have ‘the one’.

So in the run up to my wedding I’ve decided to set myself five goals to look my best and as pretty as can be, not only for photos but for myself as I’ve let myself slip since moving. Plus it’s good to have goals so you can reward yourself with treats like underwear and makeup!

Goal 1
Get fit and toned
I believe while getting fit you become more toned all round. My sport is running and I definitely found that except for the excessive leg muscles I was producing, I was getting into good shape pretty much everywhere else. Of course I needed the occasional cross training exercise to keep other muscles in shape but I definitely think running is a great all-round exercise.

I know from my own experience that increasing mileage quickly is the fastest way to get injured, so I’ve come up with a plan to reach a certain mile amount every other week. I won’t bore you and tell you what miles and when but considering I have a half marathon in February and one in March I need to get my butt moving. My problem with these events is that after the big day I get so lazy because I know I’ve achieved what I wanted and then have no reason to go exercise. The wedding is now my goal!

Goal 2
Get sparkly gnashers
This one, unless you have spare cash, is quite difficult. Once your teeth are a rank colour, unless you have them whitened, there’s nothing you can do about it. However when we were in Barbados we met and amazing couple who had gorgeous teeth and they let me into their secrets of teeth whitening strips. I bought some from ebay – 3D Crest Whitening Strips – I’m not gonna lie, I’ve not seen any difference yet and I’m pretty sure they’re not working so I might ask said couple which supplier they use because their teeth looked brand new!

The reason I want white teeth is mainly for the photographs, how vain I hear you say. Yup I am. I don’t normally care about my teeth but as the front two are half false, I often get crap caught in them and they can look pretty grim so I would say I’m doing this for both the wedding and general as I’ll carry on using them once a year for a top up I think!

Goal 3
Get that tan
I’m going to have to have sunbeds I think, Ben has said I can have them up until the wedding but after I have to promise to stop. I know this sounds controlling but I made this agreement with him because he’d never stop me using them, he just shows his displeasure when I use them. Rightly so when one of his best friends died from cancer. So these ‘cancer cocoons’ as he describes them will be my friend for the next 6 months, well hopefully only 4 and I can keep topped up with the British sun…PAH YEH RIGHT! I know these are so bad for you and I know the risks I’m taking but I have promised to stop after 20th June!

Goal 4
Improve my posture
I know this sounds ridiculous but I’ve had awful granny posture since I was about 12. I gave up ballet and all other forms of dance at the age of 11 when I thought it was uncool, what a mistake that was! Now I have a hunch which is awful. I normally ask people who I’m out with to pull my shoulders back and keep reminding me to do so, I even had a back rest bought for me at work to force me to sit in a better position but I tend to sit forward and not use it properly – sorry guys what a waste of money! But anyway, I need to try my hardest on this one cause no-one wants to marry a hunch-back bride!

Goal 5
Sort out of my immune system
This one isn’t just for the wedding, this is a must! I get ill so so often, I’ve been for numerous blood tests and they’ve all come back clear. I changed my diet to add in all the great stuff that everyone recommends, that still didn’t work! Personally I don’t fancy coughing my lungs up while saying my vowels and wiping my nose with the free hand while Ben’s putting on our wedding bands. No way hose-ay. So I’m thinking in the run up to my wedding I need to be eating all of the right foods, lots of vitamins, minerals and protein. I’m going to pack up with fruit and veg and eat very clean. If I still manage to get a cold…I will officially give up with life.

So are they any other goals anyone can suggest pre-wedding? I want to look hot so when Ben turns round to watch me walk down the aisle, that fucker sheds more than one tear!

50 Facts About Me

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently, well, just doing a lot in general if I’m honest. I’ve been reading blogs and watching vlogs in my spare time and I’ve realised I haven’t been too kind to my own. It’s needed some planning and some brain storming but i’m hoping to keep it alive. For my first post back, I’m going for a 50 random facts about me post, as these are my favourite to not only read but to watch on YouTube! Also if I’m being honest, this is an easier post for my poor little hungover mind today so here goes!

[1] Ben and I had a puppy called Hans this time last year but we had to give him away (fortunately to someone we know so we can go and visit him) because he was too violent towards me, he was alpha and I had failed him and myself. He was unbelievably gorgeous and it was the first time I had my heart broken when we gave him to his new owner. Luckily he went to a family with another German Shepherd and they’re the best of friends, so at least he’s a happy pup.

This was him at around 12-13 weeks.

[2] I have 3 older brothers, one of which has a different Dad but I never see him as any ‘half’ brother, if anything, I see him as my second Dad because of our 10.5 year age gap.

[3] I have a sugar addiction. All I ever crave is chocolate and sweets. My favourite is Cadbury’s Caramel mmmm.

[4] I used to have an eating disorder and I’m not proud of it. It led onto another illness and it was just a crazy time of my life.

[5] I will be a married woman as of 13:30 on Saturday 20th June 2015. And I’m marrying the most gorgeous, amazing man in the world.

[6] Green, well mint green in particular, is my favourite colour. I have never been a huge fan of ‘girl’ colours like pink and purple, I guess that was the tomboy in me.

[7] Thailand is the most incredible place on earth, I found myself there and I cannot wait to go back. Honeymoon Ben? 😉

[8] I have three tattoos and three piercings we may soon be four! I’ll keep you posted on that one.

[9] I share all of my thoughts with my closest friends and family, unfortunately for them they know everything about me even down to my bowel movements and waxing stories!

[10] I have angry thoughts when I’m driving, I have such a good blog post idea for this! There are sooooo many drivers who wind me up and now that I have an hour and fifteen minute commute to and from work 5 days a week they really grind my gears even more. I am also a van man now 😉

[11] I used to be obsessed with guys with germanic sounding accents – or well just german guys. There was an air of mystery to them and I always told my dad I’d marry a German or and Austrian guy. Yeeeeeh that one didn’t pan out, Ben is as English as they come.

[12] I think I have an eclectic taste in music, a lot of people say they do when really they probably just like to use the word eclectic. However I think I do! I’ll name 10 varied artists I love: George Michael, Taylor Swift, Beautiful South, Chris Brown, Death Cab for Cutie, Ryan Cabrera, Spice Girls, Blink 182, The Corrs and Brian McKnight. I tried naming the more famous ones there so you’d get an idea.

[13] I have played the recorder, glockenspiel, electric guitar and piano from the ages of 9-16 at various points but would not have the confidence to play any of them now!

[14] One of my worst traits is that I do not stick at anything especially when it gets tough. I think this is partly the Gemini in me, we get distracted and like variety. This means I am a bit of ‘jack of all trades’ and master of none.

[15] I fucking love pizza, I can’t decide whether Pizza Hut or Dominos is my favourite and I am devastated I now live in the arse end of nowhere which no pizza place will deliver to! My belly will probably thank me for that though.

[16] The Fault in Our Stars film is probably in my top 3 of saddest movies. I cry the whole way through that heart wrenching movie and after I watch it, I go away thinking (for all of about 24 hours) I should be doing everything with a ‘YOLO’ attitude and tell the one’s close to me how much I love them.

[17] If I could change one thing about my body it would be to have a flat, toned stomach.

[18] If I could change one thing about my personality…hmm this one is a little harder, either I’d change number 14 or I’d like to stop lying. I am an arsehole for white lies but in the last year or so I’ve been trying to change this. Little things like ‘oh I can’t come because I have uni work’, those kinda lies. Now I am just honest and say ‘naaa I don’t fancy it’.

[19] Ever since I was young, I have only really liked to have ‘1 best friend’. I am pretty selfish and don’t like to share and also, it’s a pain in the arse telling like 5 people every single detail of  your day, updating them with everything from dates to feelings and gossip. I much prefer to have a close bond with one person and have lots of acquaintances. I think part of this stems from not really trusting girls either, although that’s really changed since leaving 6th form as my boy mates decided our friendships were worth wasting by trying to get into my pants!

[20] Stress makes me cry! This one I’ve learnt very recently with everything I have going on at the moment.

[21] My Dad is the most amazing person I have ever met. If anyone says a bad word about him *punch to the face*.

[22] When I was younger I really wanted braces and glasses, now I have two half-fake front teeth and I do actually need glasses which are irritating.

[23] As above, I have two fake front teeth from about half way down. I did it racing my then 15-year-old boyfriend in a car park , tripping on a speed bump and not doing the natural thing by putting your hands in front of my face and smashing them on the tarmac. Yeh, the hill-billy jokes before my dentist sorted it out were fun!

[24] I have previously cheated on an ex. I’m not proud of it but I also don’t regret it, otherwise I wouldn’t have done it in the first place. Only regret the things you did not do.

[25] I’m the laziest girl, I never take my makeup off before bed, I often forget my night time tooth brush, I barely blow dry my hair and I don’t wear makeup daily.

[26] Out of all of the ‘arts’ I don’t appreciate going to the theatre and actual art. I don’t enjoy the former and I don’t understand the latter.

[27] If I had three wishes, I would 1) wish I could speak all languages fluently 2) have a sick body and 3) wish my family and friends a lifetime of good health and good times.

[28] I love ‘me’ time. I like my own company which has something I’ve only just come to realise. A few years back there’s nothing I would’ve hated more than being alone but now I love it. I think it’s the freedom of being able to do what I want, when I want with no obligations. I think I personally need to the head room too.

[29] I had a ‘slutty’ year. After I broke up with my ex of 3 years, I went a little cray cray, or ‘Ray Ray’ as my closest would call it/me and didn’t give two flying fucks about guys feelings. I was probably sick of people not caring about my own and I did want I wanted. I don’t regret it at all, it was fun! Being single is awesome, so all you single girls, embrace the free life haha!

[30] I have a potty mouth. I can’t even control it around people I really should, such as my in-laws and older people. I do try though 🙂

[31] One of my favourite feelings in the world is the accomplishment after a run.

[32] I wish I could go back to school/sixth form. Those were definitely some of my favourite years.

[33] My side of the bed is the left side (as you’re in the bed itself).

[34] My favourite position to sleep in when Ben is on shift is right in the middle with both sets of pillows turned at a 45 degree angle cocooning me into a warm slumber.

[35] The majority of my underwear is either white, black or red. BORING.

[36] I can gain and lose weight very fast, so I have to be quite careful. Note to my future self before our wedding, don’t eat too many cakes chubby!

[37] I really hate Indian food to the point I can’t be in the same room as anyone eating it, it makes me gag!

[38] I used to wear boosty bras even when I had bigger boobs than I do now, but I only own one now which rarely makes an appearance. I just know I haven’t ‘got it to flaunt it’ haha.

[39] My top half of my body is a clothes size smaller to my bottom half and I don’t even have a big bum to justify that with! 😦

[40] Cheese and Onion crisps are my favourite flavour!

[41] One of my many nicknames when I was younger was ‘Tee Towel’, cheers Rozza! (My bro!)

[42] I’ve been lucky enough to not have anyone close to me die, so I’ve never had to feel that pain most of you probably have. It scares me so much. Although, I did cry my eyes out when our old family dog Kaiser was put down! R.I.P you lad.

[43] I still don’t understand how printing money causes inflation and everything surrounding printing money. It confuses me and I wish I’d taken economics for that reason.

[44] I studied French, German, Psychology and Politics at A-Level and I’m currently studying German and French at university.

[45] Being ignored is probably one of my biggest hates. With the advances in technology and we can now all see when one another is on their phones there is NO excuse to ignore people, it’s damn right rude!

[46] I love living in the countryside, I could never live in a city!

[47] I sometimes get Ben to read my books to me before bed – I’m such a child haha. Because I love it so much, I decided to start buying audiobooks too for when he’s not here, like tonight!

[48] Thursday is my favourite day of the week, everyone starts to cheer up and I can see the weekend in sight! Plus I don’t really mind my current job so weekdays are as enjoyable as weekends sometimes.

[49] My mums roast cannot be beaten. FACT.

[50] I hate hair extensions, why girls wear them I do not understand, they look so fake. Well, each to their own, if you wear them, great, I just couldn’t stand them. Plus my hair is so skanky and thin, you’d notice straight away if I even attempted to slip some in!

I also think I may do a Blogmas, which will kick start my blogging efforts. This will probably include a lot of fitness chat as I’m doing another Will of Iron over chrimbo and I’ve started to up my mileage!
